BIOGRAPHY

Hitu was born in Bareilly (U.P.) to Mr. Khyali Ram Mishra and Mrs. Munni Devi Mishra. She began learning music at the age of 5 years from her father. Her first traditional teacher of music was Ustad Iqbal Husain Khan of Kirana Gharana. Her Taaleem later continued under Pt. A.R. Tatkey. She has also received training from Dr. Sudhadra Desai and Ustad Iftekhar Husain Khan of Rampur Sahaswan Gharana. At present she is under the tutelage of Pt. Bhola Nath Mishra.

She holds master degree and Ph.D. in music with gold medal from M.J.P. Rohilkhand University, Bareilly.
She married to Dr. Lovelesh Dutt, a famous poet, story writer and novelist.
Presently she is working as District Co-ordinator for Bareilly Chapter, Group B of Spic Macay, a world fame organization working for the promotion of Indian classical music & culture.
To preserve and promote classical music amongst the young generation, Dr. Hitu is running Anushruti Sngeet Mahavidyalay, affiliated to Prayag Sangeet Samiti.

Her basic concern is swara, in particular precise tuning and expression of notes with beauty and highly ornamented style.

Hitu has performed throughout the country in various prestigious concerts organized in different cities including Varanasi, Bareilly, Bijnor, Amritsar, Ludhiyana, Chandigarh, Bheemtal, Bageshwar, Mumbai, Kolkata, Guwahati, Shahjhanpur, Lucknow, Pantnagar, Rampur, Goa, Budaun, Faizabad, Alwar, Haldighati. She feels privileged to perform in Sankat Mochan Mandir, Varanasi and Ramayan Conclave, Bijnor.
Her performances are broadcast time to time on Akashvani & Doordarshan.
